In this video, spin specialist Charyl Brusch gives a spin lesson to one of her skaters. The value in watching this video comes from seeing the errors (which are common) and the corrections and discussion. At the beginning of the video, the skater performs a pretty good forward scratch spin which is centered and relatively fast for a skater at this level. In these forward scratch attempts, the skater does not wait quite long enough on the forward entrance edge to satisfy Charyl and you can see the effects in the second attempt (significant traveling). The information about pressing the hands overhead on an upright spin is also valuable.
In the backspin attempts, Charyl wants tighter ankles and some corrections with the hands and arms. In the forward sit spin, the skater hits a nice position but Charyl wants her to hold the free leg back longer on the entrance edge (to create more edge pressure and built up potential energy for the spin).
