Off Ice Figure Skating Training – Part 2 (Kori Ade)

Kori Ade continues with the second part of a multi-part series on off-ice training.  In Part 1, Kori introduced her demonstrators, went through a short warm-up, and proceeded to dynamic stretching.  In this video, Kori briefly reviews the previous video and begins with some strength work.

The first exercise is handstand push-ups.  Kori offers advice to one of the skaters to address a common problem with the back arching.  Next up is backbend push-ups for both strength and flexibility.  Kori then offers variations to challenge the skaters including the walk-around handstand and the rotating backbend.  Kori even gets in on the demonstration.  She also mentions backbend races but does not ask the skaters to demonstrate.

These exercises are very hard but give you some idea of the training used by top coaches and top athletes.

Check out the other videos in this series: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.
