Jump Rope for Warm-Up and Cardio (Tugba Karademir)

Guest International coach Tugba Karademir shares a great rope jumping routine to be used as part of a warm-up or cardio workout. Tugba coaches at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, ON Canada and is a former International medalist and Olympic competitor.

The routine starts with 10 single jumps on two feet and then switches to 10 in h-position on one foot, and then 10 more on the other foot with the free foot tucked behind. Next is 10 double jumps (rope passes twice for every jump), followed by cross-side-cross-side skipping, and then finishing with the double cross. Tugba describes then entire routine while showing video of the skater in slow motion. Then she shows the short routine at full speed. To increase the challenge, the skater then performs the routine with backward rope turning, and skaters can increase the difficulty further by attempting triple jumps and even quad jumps.
