Spin specialist Bobbe Shire talks about errors in the camel spin and how she addresses them. This is part 2 of Bobbe’s camel spin presentation.
In this video, Bobbe addresses in detail the back position. She also says that “George is behind the skater’s back” in a camel spin. This observation helps her skaters by giving them a desired head position for fast camel spins. She gives a tip to help the skater get the correct head position but she warns that it’s challenging to do the head and keep the leg positions correct.
She also shows a drill to help her skaters have stronger camel positions and really feel the proper position for the first rotation. In this drill, the skater bends the skating leg but maintains the rest of the camel position. Bobbe has her skaters demonstrate this drill.
