Chris Conte continues his multi-part series on air turns or the Russian Twist. In Part 1, he introduced the overall concept. In this part, he explains the first turn and discusses how it relates to snizzles and the d-position.
He begins by explaining in detail the first turn. He anchors the head, then turns the whole body a half turn. For the remaining half turn (of the first full turn) Chris turns the lower half while keeping the upper body back to the axis side (right side for Chris).
Then he relates the side-by-side foot position of the drill to the snizzles he discussed in a previous video. The snizzle creates the ideal cross-foot air position. Additionally, the free hip should be up and forward as explained by Frank Carroll.
