Coaches Stephanie Bass and Tiffany McNeil of The Strategic Method offer some timely information regarding difficult spin entrances and exits. This video addresses spin entrances and exits as covered in the July 20, 2020 publication/update of the ISU Technical Panel Handbook.
NOTE: IJS information is always changing. This information is provided in good faith by iCoachSkating and The Strategic Method in October 2020, and IJS may have changed (significantly) at the time you are watching this video. Please visit The Strategic Method page on iCoachSkating for their most recent videos on IJS.
To begin this video, it is noted that only a difficult entrance OR a difficult exit may be counted as a level feature in any given program. Difficult entrances discussed and demonstrated in the video include lunge, windmill, running 3’s, and stars (without a fly). As noted in the video, “a difficult fly is not the same thing as a difficult entrance.” Difficult exits discussed and demonstrated in the video include a cluster out of spin, spread eagle, tuck jump, hitch kick, and toe Arabian. Difficult spin entrances and exits “must have a significant impact on the balance, control, and execution of the spin.”
