Champion Cords for Off-Ice Training (Sheila Thelen)

Figure skating specialist coach Sheila Thelen reminds us that Champion Cords are a great addition to an off-ice workout. A large number of coaches and skaters have Champion Cords (or you can order then here) so it makes sense to pull them out and use them when forced to be off the ice.

Sheila demonstrates how to connect the cords to athletic shoes and then she gives suggested exercises to work on extension and alignment. A classic example is the spiral or camel spin position but there are many ways to use the cords off the ice. For coaches giving remote video lessons, the cords can also provide visual feedback to confirm skater positions and movements.
